The documentary by Wojciech Słota and Marcin Kłosowicz – ART OF FREEDOM was awarded at the Cervino CineMountain Festival in Italy. It won as the Best Mountaineering Film.
‘Art of Freedom’ tells a story of Polish Himalayan mountaineering during the times of socialism – 70’s and 80’s of XX century. Despite the critical economic situation, Poles carried on expensive Himalayan expeditions and were known as the best alpinists on the world. The production focuses on such well known people as Jerzy Kukuczka, Andrzej Zawada and Wanda Rutkiewicz.
‘Art of Freedom’ refers to the most difficult and the most spectacular climbing. It shows the human behaviour in extreme situation and his fight with body weaknesses. It presents Himalayan mountaineering as a survival, school of braveness, solidarity and finally the truth love.
The prize at the Italian Festival co-organized by the Italian Alpine Club is not the first international distinction for ‘Art of Freedom’. The film has already been awarded at:
