Mieczysław Wasilewski

(born in 1942) - poster and graphic designer, author of book covers, illustrations and movie logos. Graduated from Warsaw Fine Art Academy (ASP) in 1966, where he also currently works. Student of professor Henryk Tomaszewski. He teaches at universities in Damascus, Frankfurt, Groningen and Helsinki. Wasilewski became famous all around Europe and in both North and South America.

His works characterize the minimalism of form, unique style, precision, discipline and limits himself to black and white colours. This formal purity and simplicity is deliberate. Limited means of expression are aimed at giving simple statements, which can be compared to literary aphorism.
