From 10th to 13th of October in the Silver Screen cinema located at the very centre of ‎Łódź will run SE-MA-FOR Film Festival, one of three festivals in the world dedicated to stop motion animation. The organisers of the events have planned almost 300 projections of animated films from nearly 30 countries. In addition, the programme includes meetings with animation directors, talks, special screenings and evening concerts.

The most important feature of the festival's programme is the International Stop Motion Animation Competition, during which 38 animations of various, often drastically different subjects will be presented. The audience of the competition screenings will watch surrealistic comedies such as Estonian "Happy Birthday", story of a fight between Jesus and Robot grouped up with the serious entries. One of which is Danish black and white film "Seven Minutes in the Warsaw Ghetto" showing the drama of a Jewish child during World War II.
One of SE-MA-FOR Film Festival key attractions is the Polish premiere of Uruguay-Argentina-Chile cooproduction "Selkirk, the real Robinson Crusoe" by Walter Tournier. The director has already proven his brilliance on a number of occasions and his short film titled "Our Little Paradise" was acclaimed as one of the best films of the 20th century at the world's most important festival of animated films in Annecy, France. "Selkirk" is the first feature animation by Tournier, produced with the stop motion-3D technique. Audience of the film festival in Łódź will see controversial work of Anci Damian - "Crulic - The Path To Beyond", which critics often compare to "Persepolis", or "Waltz with Bashir". In the programme of the events there are also screenings of "Robot Chicken: Star Wars" trilogy, in which toys, dolls and plasticine little men speak with the voices of celebrities: Hugh Hefner, Megan Fox, Snoop Dogg and Scarlett Johansson.

During the festival and for the first time in Europe, the Iranian Young Cinema Society, which for almost thirty years has been hosting Teheran International Short Film Festival, will present their animation. Furthermore, fans of comicbook series "Wilq Superhero" (Wilq Superbohater) will have a unique opportunity to see yet unpublished fragments of a cartoon production based on the story, watch an exhibition of Minkiewicz brothers’ sketches and most importantly, meet the artists themselves.
