'Traffic Department' at Moscow International Film Festival

‘Traffic Department’ (‘Drogówka’) directed by Wojciech Smarzowski will be presented in Main Competition at the 35th Moscow International Film Festival. The Festival will take place from 20th June to 29th June 2013.

 

 

Moscow International Film Festival

The MIFF is one of the most significant film events on the world. It will be run by well-known Russian director and actor Nikita Mikhalkov. The Main Prize in the competition is the Golden St. George Award for Best Film. The full lineup of the Main Competition will be announced in June.


Films in the Main Competition

So far organizers of Moscow International Film Festival announced 10 titles, which will be screened in the Main Competition. Besides Polish ‘Traffic Department’ there will be presented such films as:

• ‘Matterhorn’ by Diederik Ebbinge,
• ‘Rol’ by Konstantina Lopushansky,
• ‘Spaghetti Story’ by Ciro de Caro,
• ‘Sayonara Keikoku’ by Tatsushi Ômori,
• ‘Los chicos del puerto’ by Albert Morais,
• ‘Rosie’ by Marsel Gisler,
• ‘Zerre’ by Erdem Tepegöz,
• ‘Koma’ by Archil Kavtaradze,
• ‘Skolzheniye’ by Anton Rozenberg.


Polish winners at the MIFF so far

There are three Polish directors who won top prizes at the Moscow International Film Festival:

• Andrzej Wajda in 1975 for ‘The Promised Land’ (‘Ziemia obiecana’),
• Krzysztof Kieślowski in 1979 for ‘Camera Buff’ (‘Amator’),
• Krzysztof Zanussi in 2000 for‘Life as a Fatal Sexually-Transmitted Disease’ (Życie jako śmiertelna choroba przenoszona drogą płciową’).

 

Moreover, there are Polish films and actors who were appreciated at the MIFF and won other awards such as:

• Urszula Grabowska - the Silver St. George Award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Joanna’ by Feliks Falk,
• ‘Joanna’ - the Award of Russian Journalists and the Award of Russian Film Clubs,
• Jan Kidawa-Błoński - the award for Best Director for ‘Litle Rose’ (‘Różyczka’),
• ‘Reverse’ (‘Rewers’) by Borys Lankosz - Best Film in the 'Perspectives' section of the festival,
• ‘Little Moscow’ (‘Mała Moskwa’) by Waldemar Krzystek - the Audience Award.
